Most excitedly though, you can also buy issue 31 of the EIS Private Ear magazine, which has been resurrected after the EIS decided to operate online only in 2000. New Album, Single And Tour Delayed Until 2005 Date Posted: 29th June 2004 - Source: EIS The EIS announced today that the new album Nightbird and the new single Breathe will not be released in October as originally planned, but will now be released in January 2005. The tour that was planned for this autumn will now go ahead in the spring. This is due to the fact Vince will be unavailable for the next couple of months and that Andy is currently recuperating from a recent hip operation. By postponing the release dates, it will allow the band and Mute Records to be able to properly promote the new material. It was also confirmed that there will be a new Erasure release of some kind later this year, with the rumour being that the acoustics/country album of re-recorded old album tracks will be released early, having originally been due for release after Nightbird. The EIS '04 event will go ahead as planned. New Album And Single Titles Confirmed Date Posted: 31st May 2004 - Source: EIS It has been officially confirmed that the new Erasure album will be called Nightbird and will be released in October. The first single from this album will be called Breathe (and not Breath as mentioned below) and will also be released in October. The only hint of the sound of the album comes from Greg at the EIS who states "the album is classic Erasure sounding, yet with an evolved feel to it". I can't wait! New Single To Be Called Breath? Date Posted: 25th May 2004 - Source: Union Street Recording Steve Walsh, the producer of the upcoming new Erasure album, has stated the first single from the new album will be called Breath and that backing vocals are supplied by his wife Jill. Although this seems to be a reliable source, this all remains rumour until official word from the EIS. Vince Gets Married! Date Posted: 25th May 2004 - Source: EIS Vince got married to longtime girlfriend Tracy Hurley last week in New York. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them both and I wish them every happiness in the future. Erasure Performance On TOTP2 Date Posted: 7th May 2004 - Source: TOTP Website An Erasure performance from yesteryear will be featured on TOTP2 next week. The show airs on Tuesday 11th May at 7:00pm (BST). Other performers include Status Quo, The Cult and Ian Dury. New Album At Mixing Stage Date Posted: 2nd April 2004 - Source: EIS It has been revealed that 10 tracks are being worked on to be included on the new Erasure album which will be out in the autumn. Erasure are working with Steve Walsh (who co-produced the forthcoming acoustics album with Vince) and state that the vocals are complete. The band are now working with Tom Elmhirst to mix the tracks. No clue as to the musical style of the new album have been released. Studio Diary Feature Added To Official Website Date Posted: 30th January 2004 - Source: EIS A new feature has been added to the official EIS website, where Andy and Vince document their experiences in the recording studio as they continue work on the new album. Accompanied by photos, the Studio Diary gives a humourous insight into the band's working relationship and progress on the new release. The diary is available under the Features section of the EIS website. Update On New Album Progress Date Posted: 10th January 2004 - Source: EIS The band have revealed work on their new studio album is progressing well. Eight tracks have been completed and the band will soon be hitting the studio after writing more tracks. There are also provisional dates for a tour to promote the album believed to be in the autumn, but this is far from being confirmed.
