Posted: 8th November 2001 - Source EIS
After many months of speculation the second single to be taken from

New Covers
Album Update
Posted: 8th November 2001 - Source EIS
Progress is well underway on Erasure's forthcoming
cover album with six tracks nearly completed and the backing tracks
prepared for another three. The band want to record up to 17 covers
and choose the best for the album with the others being used as possible
future b-sides. It is believed the album will sound like a contemporary
version of the Chorus album and will not include any guitars.
The album is expected to be completed this year for a 2002 release (no
earlier than Spring) and although the tracklist remains confidential,
word is the covers are consisted of the band's favourite 60s and 70s
hit songs.

A Little Respect
Featured On US And UK TV Shows
Posted: 19th October 2001 - Source Erasure.com
& Channel 4
A recent episode of the American NBC television show Scrubs,
a comedy about young medical interns, heavily featured Erasure's
A Little Respect song. Classixboy's posting on the Erasure.com
discussion board explains how: "The show began with a senior surgeon
requesting that the song be played while he operated. The young surgical
intern and the patient on the operating table said that they both hated
it. One scene later, the young intern (post surgery) catches himself
singing the song and then stops himself with a remark such as, 'I gotta
get that song out of my head - it's like a virus!' Anyway, as the show
goes on, just about every major character sings a few bars of the tune...The
song, it seems, is truly infectious. At the end of the show, as one
of the young interns races to meet his romantic interest for a sexual
rendez-vous, the original Erasure track kicks in."
UK audiences also saw A Little Respect related happenings in
an episode of Channel 4's student-based soap opera Hollyoaks.
In one scene DJ Chloe devotes the song to "all the lonely people out
there" because "everyone deserves a little respect." And all this when
I thought the world had forgotten Erasure even existed...

Moon &
The Sky Single May Be Ineligible For UK Charts
Posted: 13th September 2001 - Source EIS
The forthcoming Moon & The Sky single is likely to follow
in the footsteps of the Rain Plus single by being ineligible
for the UK charts on the grounds of an over-long tracklist. It is believed
the Moon & The Sky single will comprise of several remixes
and acoustic Loveboat tracks. The release date is still unconfirmed
but is expected to be released this year.

The Sky Excerpt To Be On Musik CD
Posted: 13th September 2001 - Source EIS
This month's Musik magazine features a coverdisc CD consisting of a
58 minute medley of tracks by various Mute artists. A two minute version
of the previously unreleased Murk Monster Mix of Moon & The
Sky is featured in the medley although it has been stressed that
the remix bares very little resemblance to the original Loveboat
mix, both vocally and musically.

Rumours Over
Us Moon & The Sky Release
Posted: 10th August 2001 - Source Erasure.com
Despite Loveboat still not seeing a US release, it is rumoured
that Maverick Records plan to release the Moon & The Sky
single stateside in November. The Maxie CD single is believed to Erasure's
last chance with Maverick and if sales are good the album will finally
see a US release. If sales are poor Erasure will be
dropped but it is understood that Koch Records will sign the band on
a three album deal. Koch Records where responsible for releasing Electronic's
final album Twisted Tenderness when their label refused a US
release last year and are reported to be keen to sign Erasure
with future albums believed to be the forthcoming covers album, an updated
2 CD version of Pop! and a b-sides collection. However I must
stress this is all only a rumour at the moment.
New Album
To Be Comprised Of Cover Versions Only
Posted: 3rd August 2001 - Source
EIS
It has been announced that Erasure's new album will
consist of cover versions and not new original material. Although no
confirmation of which songs are to be covered, Erasure
have made it clear they will not be covering any more Abba songs. It
is believed the songs will be from the early 1960s era.
Moon &
The Sky Release Put Back To October
Posted: 1st August 2001 - Source
EIS
The second single from last year's Loveboat album Moon
& The Sky will now not see release until October. This is due
to Mute currently commissioning remixes of the track for radio-edits
and are waiting to ensure the single mix has the most chance of being
a chart success. This seems to be a futile exercise seeing how Moon
& The Sky has already seen a number of remixes for prospected
inclusion on the US release of Loveboat, and that radio stations
tend to ignore Erasure releases anyway. Let's hope
the wait is worth it.
Pop! Sales
Up After Wheatus Success

& HMV
After the success of Wheatus's cover of A Little Respect, sales
of Erasure's Pop! - The First Twenty Hits
compilation have risen and the album has re-entered the top twenty of
the Indie Album Chart in recent weeks, nine years after its initial
release. Although it hasn't managed to re-enter the Top 100 Album Charts,
the album saw a return to the HMV sales chart, reaching number 60 recently.
** Erasure
Working On New Album **

EIS
Great official news for all Erasure fans: Over the
past few weeks Andy and Vince have returned to the studio to work on
a brand new album. The album will be produced by Gareth Jones (who co-produced
the Wild!, Erasure and Cowboy albums) and
will hopefully be recorded by the new year. However don't expect to
see the album hit the shelves until the Summer/Autumn of 2002 at the
very earliest. This new album will mean Andy will not be recording a
solo covers album as previous mentioned.

Moon &
The Sky Given Provisional August Release Date
Posted: 9th July 2001 - Source
EIS
The long awaited second single from Loveboat has been confirmed
as Moon & The Sky and has been scheduled for release on
27th August, although this is highly likely to change and be put back.
No other details regarding the release, particularly whether it'll be
accompanied by Alien as a double a-side, have been finalised
yet. It is not impossible that Moon & The Sky will not
see release until the autumn, which could be a whole year after the
release of Loveboat's first single Freedom.

Sets Three And Four Confirmed

Following the success of CD Singles Box sets One and Two,
Mute will continue the trend and release another two box sets, comprising
of five singles in each. As with the first two box sets, the five CD
singles will be comprised of tracks from all the UK single formats (7",
12", Limited 12", CD, Limited CD) and have been digitally re-mastered
for optimum sound quality. Release date will be October, but again this
is very likely to change.

Wheatus
Chart At #3 With A Little Respect
Posted: 8th July 2001 - Source Radio One
Wheatus's cover version of A Little Respect has charted at
number 3 in the UK singles chart. Although this is not necessarily where
the song will peak it is highly unlikely it will move up to the number
one spot. This makes this the first Erasure cover version
to better the chart position of the original, where as we all know Andy
and Vince's version only reached #4 in 1988.

Wheatus
Cover Released To Mixed Reviews
Posted: 2nd July 2001 - Sources Dotmusic
& Ceefax
Wheatus released their cover of A Little Respect today to mixed
views from music critics. Comments like "A very welcome return of
an excellent track" (Ceefax) seems encouraging, but remarks such
as "This cover couldn't sound less sincere if it was sung by Alan
Partridge" (Dotmusic) don't inspire confidence. I'm sure it'll
enter highly in the UK charts however.

A Wonderful
New Family Fantastic Album
Posted: 15th June 2001 - Source
EIS
Family Fantastic have recorded a follow-up to the Nice! album,
entitled Wonderful. The project is co-produced and co-written
by Vince and contains 11 new tracks and one cover version inspired by
the songs of the pre-Rock 'n' Roll era, although the songs themselves
have a modern feel to them. Think of Erasure's cover
of Magic Moments to get an idea of what the album will sound
like (albeit without Andy doing the vocals). As of yet it has not been
released, but should shortly be available.

Vince Clarke
Tracks On Winning London Soundtrack

EIS & Erasure.org
The new Mary-Kate and Ashley movie Winning London includes
covers of Vince's Just Can't Get Enough (from his Depeche Mode
days), Treat Yourself (from the Family Fantastic Nice!
album) and a new song called Knockin' On Ya Door by the RadioActivators
(not to be confused with the Erasure song of a similar
title on the Crackers International EP). The RadioActivators
are another Vince Clarke side-project, with this new song being described
as 'synth rockabilly', that is a combination of late 1950s Eddie Cochran-style
guitar Rock 'n' Roll and early 80s synth-pop. This track is taken from
a 4 track EP to be released later this year. The Winning London soundtrack

Wheatus's
Version Of A Little Respect Has July Release
Posted: 12th June 2001 - Sources
EIS & Wheatus.com
Wheatus's cover version of Erasure's 1988 hit A
Little Respect is due for release in the UK on 2nd July. The song
is also riding high in the MTV: Most Wanted chart and is being
heavily promoted via TV performances by the band. Andy and Vince are
said to be fans of Wheatus's version and it was reported that Erasure
were approached to do remixes of the track for the single's B-sides,
but never found the time to do so.
Doubts
Over Second Single And US Loveboat Releases
Posted: 25th May 2001 - Sources
EIS & Erasure.com
With each passing month, it seems increasingly unlikely that a second
single will be released from Erasure's recent Loveboat
album. Moon & The Sky was rumoured to be the second Loveboat
single with Andy and Vince said to have been in the studio to create
a substantially reworked version of the song along with a new mix of
Alien, with both mixes being potential singles. But as of yet,
Mute have no plans to release either mix. Rumours have been flying about
over the US version of Loveboat, where Erasure
have reportedly recorded an original track (believed to be called Broken
Star) to be included on the substantially different American version
of Loveboat. The US version is said to include the bonus tracks
of Better (the Freedom B-side) and covers of The Supremes's
Baby Love and Melissa Etheridge's Come To My Window
as well as the aforementioned remixed versions of Alien and
Moon & The Sky. However it is also believed that Maverick
are unimpressed by the adapted album version and are not keen to release
it at all. It was even suggested the album would need a name change
where Maverick would sink the title of Loveboat and opt for
Moon & The Sky instead. I must stress however, none of
this is anything but hearsay and we all know you can't believe everything
you read.
